Pablo Neira Ayuso [Thu, 18 Jun 2026 11:56:38 +0000 (13:56 +0200)]
netfilter: nf_conntrack_expect: use conntrack GC to reap expectations

This patch replaces the timer API by GC worker approach for
expectations, as it already happened in many other subsystems.

Use the existing conntrack GC worker to iterate over the local list of
expectations in the master conntrack to reap expired expectations.
Check IPS_HELPER_BIT to run GC for expectations, set it on for nft_ct
expectation which nevers sets it. Hold the expectation spinlock while
iterating over the master conntrack expectation list to synchronize with
nf_ct_remove_expectations(). This also performs runtime packet path
garbage collection through the expectation insertion and lookup
functions while walking over one of the chains of the global expectation
hashtables. Unconfirmed conntrack entries are skipped since ct->ext can
be reallocated and dying are skipped since those will be gone soon.
Set on IPS_HELPER_BIT if the helper ct extension is added, then the new
GC worker does not need to bump the ct refcount to check if the ct->ext
helper is available.

This removes the extra bump on the refcount for expectation timers, this
allows to remove several nf_ct_expect_put() calls after the unlink,
after this update only refcount remains at 1 while on the expectation
hashes.

This patch implicitly addresses a race with the existing timer API
allowing an expectation to access a stale exp->master pointer which has
been already released when expectation removal loses races with an
expiring timer, ie. timer_del() reporting false.

Add a new NF_CT_EXPECT_DEAD flag to reap this expectation via GC. This
is needed by nf_conntrack_unexpect_related() which is called in error
paths to invalidate newly created expectations that has been added into
the hashes. These expectactions cannot be inmediately released as GC or
nf_ct_remove_expectations() could race to make it. On expectation
insert, the runtime GC reaps stale expectations before checking the
expectation limit set by policy.

Set current timestamp in nf_ct_expect_alloc(), then add the expectation
policy timeout (or custom timeout specified added on top of this) to
specify the expectation lifetime.

netfilter: nf_queue: pin bridge device while NFQUEUE holds fake dst

The br_netfilter fake rtable is embedded in struct net_bridge and is
attached to bridged packets with skb_dst_set_noref(). If such a packet is
queued to NFQUEUE, __nf_queue() upgrades that fake dst with
skb_dst_force().

At that point the queued skb can hold a real dst reference after bridge
teardown has started. The problem is not that every bridged packet needs
its own dst reference. The problem is that NFQUEUE can keep the bridge
private fake dst alive after unregister begins.

Fix this by keeping the bridge fake dst model unchanged and pinning the
bridge master device only while the packet sits in NFQUEUE. Record the
bridge device in nf_queue_entry when the queued skb carries a bridge fake
dst, take a device reference for the queue lifetime, and drop it when the
queue entry is freed.

Also make sure queued entries are reaped when that bridge device goes
down, and drop the redundant nf_bridge_info_exists() test from the fake
dst detection.

This keeps netdev_priv(br->dev) alive until verdict completion, so the
embedded fake rtable and its metrics backing storage cannot be freed out
from under dst_release(). It also avoids the constant refcount bump and
avoids using ipv4-specific dst helpers for IPv6 bridge traffic.

Adrian Bente [Thu, 28 May 2026 07:08:51 +0000 (10:08 +0300)]
netfilter: flowtable: fix offloaded ct timeout never being extended

OpenWrt has recently migrated many platforms to kernel 6.18. On the
MediaTek platform, which supports hardware network offloading, WiFi
connections accelerated via the WED path were observed to drop after
roughly 300 seconds.

After several debugging sessions, assisted by the Claude LLM, the
problem was narrowed down as follows:

nf_flow_table_extend_ct_timeout() extends ct->timeout for offloaded
flows using:

cmpxchg(&ct->timeout, expires, new_timeout);

'expires' comes from nf_ct_expires(ct) and is a relative value, while
ct->timeout holds an absolute timestamp. The two are never equal, so
the cmpxchg always fails and the timeout is never extended.

This goes unnoticed for most flows, but a long-lived hardware (WED)
offloaded flow on MediaTek MT7986 eventually has ct->timeout decay to
zero, the conntrack entry is reaped and the connection breaks.

Open-code the relative value from a single READ_ONCE(ct->timeout)
snapshot and compare against that same absolute snapshot in the
cmpxchg, so the timeout extension actually takes effect while the
datapath remains authoritative if it updates ct->timeout concurrently.

crypto_aead_encrypt() and drops it with put_net() on the synchronous
return paths and in tipc_aead_encrypt_done(); the -EINPROGRESS/-EBUSY
return keeps the reference for the async callback to release. The decrypt
path was left without the equivalent guard.

Mirror the encrypt-side fix on the decrypt path: take a net reference
before crypto_aead_decrypt() (failing with -ENODEV and the matching
bearer put if it cannot be acquired), keep it across the
-EINPROGRESS/-EBUSY async return, and drop it with put_net() on the
synchronous success/error return and at the end of
tipc_aead_decrypt_done().

Reproduced under KASAN on v7.1-rc7: a UDP bearer with a cluster key is
flooded with crafted encrypted frames from an unknown peer (driving the
cluster-key decrypt path) while the bearer's netns is repeatedly torn
down. The completion must run asynchronously to outlive
tipc_crypto_stop(); on x86 the stock aesni gcm(aes) now decrypts
synchronously, so the async path was exercised via cryptd offload. The
unguarded aead->crypto dereference in tipc_aead_decrypt_done() is the
unpatched upstream path; tipc_aead_decrypt() still lacks
maybe_get_net(aead->crypto->net), so the completion can outlive the free
on any config where crypto_aead_decrypt() goes async.

this: rds_rdma_bytes() in rds_sendmsg() and rds_cmsg_rdma_args() in
rds_cmsg_send() both reject cmsg_len < CMSG_LEN(sizeof(struct
rds_rdma_args)). Add the same check to rds_rm_size() so all three RDMA
args passes are consistent.

This is a consistency and hardening change with no behavioral effect for
well-formed senders and no reachable bug today: rds_rdma_bytes() runs
before rds_rm_size() in rds_sendmsg() and already rejects a short
RDS_CMSG_RDMA_ARGS, so the size pass is not reached with an undersized
cmsg. But rds_rm_size() reads the args independently of that earlier
pass, and nothing in rds_rm_size() itself records or enforces the
precondition, so a reader or a future refactor of the size pass cannot
tell the cmsg has already been length-checked. Applying the same
cmsg_len guard in all three RDS_CMSG_RDMA_ARGS consumers keeps that
invariant local to each and robust to reordering.

3 months agogve: fix header buffer corruption with header-split and HW-GRO
Ankit Garg [Wed, 17 Jun 2026 01:32:08 +0000 (18:32 -0700)]
gve: fix header buffer corruption with header-split and HW-GRO

The DQO RX datapath programs a per-buffer-queue-descriptor
header_buf_addr at post time and reads the split header back at
completion time. Both the post and the read currently index the
header buffer by queue position rather than by the buffer's identity:

  - post (gve_rx_post_buffers_dqo): header_buf_addr is computed from
    bufq->tail
  - read (gve_rx_dqo): the header is read from desc_idx (the completion
    queue head index)

This relies on the buffer-queue index and the completion-queue index
being equal for the start of every packet, i.e. on the device consuming
posted buffers and returning completions in the exact same order. That
assumption does not hold once HW-GRO is enabled with multiple
flows: coalesced segments are accepted and completed in an order that
may differ from the order buffers were posted, and segments from
different flows may interleave.

That results in two problems:

1. Wrong header slot on read. Because the read offset is derived from
the completion index (desc_idx) while the device wrote the header to
the address programmed for the buffer's buf_id, the driver can copy
a header belonging to a different packet. This shows up as
throughput drop (about 30% drop and large numbers of TCP
retransmissions) with header-split and HW-GRO both enabled and many
   streams.

2. Header buffer reused while still owned by the device. The driver
advances bufq->head by one per completion and re-posts buffers based
on that. Arrival of N RX completions only guarantees that at least N
RX buffer descriptors have been read by the device. It does not
guarantee that the device has relinquished the ownership of all the
buffers corresponding to those N descriptors. With out-of-order
completions (e.g. the completion for a packet copied into buffer N
arrives before the completion for a packet copied into buffer N-1),
the driver can re-post and overwrite a header buffer that the device
is still going to write into, corrupting the header of a packet
whose completion has not yet been processed.

Fix both issues by indexing the header buffer by buf_id on both the post
and read paths. Reading from buf_id's slot is therefore always correct
regardless of completion ordering (fixes problem 1).

Indexing by buf_id also ties each header slot to the lifetime of its
buffer state. A buffer state is only returned to the free/recycle lists
when its own completion (buf_id) is processed, so its header slot can
only be re-posted after the device is done with it. This makes header
slot reuse safe under out-of-order completions (fixes problem 2).

Allocate (gve_rx_alloc_hdr_bufs) and free (gve_rx_free_hdr_bufs) the
header buffers based on num_buf_states to match the buf_id indexing.

net: thunderbolt: Fix frags[] overflow by bounding frame_count

tbnet_poll() assembles a multi-frame ThunderboltIP packet into one skb. The
first frame goes into the skb linear area and every further frame is added as
a page fragment.

skb_add_rx_frag(skb, skb_shinfo(skb)->nr_frags,
page, hdr_size, frame_size,
TBNET_RX_PAGE_SIZE - hdr_size);

A packet of frame_count frames therefore ends up with frame_count - 1
fragments. tbnet_check_frame() only bounds the peer supplied frame_count to
TBNET_RING_SIZE / 4 (64), which is far above MAX_SKB_FRAGS (17 by default). A
peer that sends a packet of 19 or more small frames pushes nr_frags past
MAX_SKB_FRAGS, so skb_add_rx_frag() writes past skb_shinfo()->frags[] and
corrupts memory after the shared info.

Tighten the start of packet bound to MAX_SKB_FRAGS + 1 so a packet can never
produce more fragments than frags[] can hold. This matches the recent skb

nt->buf is exactly MAX_PRINT_CHUNK bytes, but scnprintf() reserves one

MAX_PRINT_CHUNK loses its last byte (emitted as a stray NUL in the

capped at MAX_PRINT_CHUNK.

Alternatively, nt->buf could be left at MAX_PRINT_CHUNK and the NUL byte
reserved by routing exactly-MAX_PRINT_CHUNK payloads to fragmentation
('len < MAX_PRINT_CHUNK'), at the cost of fragmenting those messages.

3 months agoflow_dissector: check device type before reading ETH_ADDRS
Yun Zhou [Tue, 16 Jun 2026 12:30:57 +0000 (20:30 +0800)]
flow_dissector: check device type before reading ETH_ADDRS

__skb_flow_dissect() unconditionally reads 12 bytes from eth_hdr(skb)
when FLOW_DISSECTOR_KEY_ETH_ADDRS is requested. This assumes the skb
has a valid Ethernet header at mac_header, which is not always the case.

The problem can be triggered by:
 1. Creating a TUN device in L3 mode (IFF_TUN, hard_header_len=0)
 2. Attaching a multiq qdisc with a flower filter matching on eth_src
 3. Sending a packet through AF_PACKET

Since TUN in L3 mode has no link-layer header, mac_header points to
the L3 data area. The flow dissector reads 12 bytes of uninitialized
skb memory, which then propagates through fl_set_masked_key() and is
used as a rhashtable lookup key in __fl_lookup(), as reported by KMSAN.

Rejecting the filter in the control path (at tc filter add time) is
not feasible because TC filter blocks can be shared between arbitrary
devices -- a filter installed on an Ethernet device may later classify
packets on a headerless device through a shared block. The device
association is not fixed at filter creation time.

Fix this by gating the memcpy on dev->type == ARPHRD_ETHER, which
ensures only true Ethernet-framed packets have their addresses read.
This is more precise than the previous hard_header_len >= 12 check,
which would incorrectly pass for non-Ethernet link types like IPoIB
(ARPHRD_INFINIBAND, hard_header_len=24) and FDDI (hard_header_len=21)
whose L2 headers are not in Ethernet format. Additionally check
skb_mac_header_was_set() to guard against the pathological case where
mac_header is the unset sentinel (~0U), which would cause eth_hdr() to
return a wild pointer.

For the act_mirred redirect case (Ethernet packet redirected to a
non-Ethernet device sharing a TC block), zeroing the key is the correct
behavior: the packet is now being classified on the target device, where
Ethernet address matching is not semantically meaningful.

Note: on non-Ethernet devices, the zeroed key will match a filter
configured with all-zero MAC addresses. This is an improvement over the
previous behavior where uninitialized memory could randomly match any
filter.

devlink: Fix parent ref leak on tc-bw failure

When a node is created via rate-new with tc-bw and a parent node,
devlink_nl_rate_set() executes the sequence of ops. It bails out on the
first failure and doesn't rollback anything. For most things that is
fine (setting some numbers), but the parent set can leak if there's
another failure after that.

That is precisely what happens when parent setting isn't the last block
in the function. After the referenced "Fixes" commit, when tc-bw fails
to be set the function bails out after having set the parent and
incremented its refcount.
There are two callers:
- devlink_nl_rate_set_doit() is fine, it just reports the error.
- but devlink_nl_rate_new_doit() frees the newly created node and leaks
  the parent refcnt.

physical base address and copy it into the caller's own LMT map table

IRQ source, but req->base_pcifunc is a separate payload field and is
not sanitized.

Reject the request with -EPERM when a VF caller's base_pcifunc is not a

virtio-net: fix len check in receive_big()

receive_big() bounds the device-announced length by
(big_packets_num_skbfrags + 1) * PAGE_SIZE.  That is still too loose:
add_recvbuf_big() sets sg[1] to start at offset
sizeof(struct padded_vnet_hdr) into the first page, so the chain
actually carries hdr_len + (PAGE_SIZE - sizeof(padded_vnet_hdr)) +
big_packets_num_skbfrags * PAGE_SIZE bytes -- 20 bytes less than the
check allows for the common hdr_len == 12 case.

A malicious virtio backend can announce a len in that gap.  page_to_skb()
then walks one frag past the page chain, storing a NULL page->private
into skb_shinfo()->frags[MAX_SKB_FRAGS], which is both an out-of-bounds
write past the static frag array and a NULL frag handed up the rx path.

Xin Long [Mon, 15 Jun 2026 19:36:30 +0000 (15:36 -0400)]
sctp: hold socket lock when dumping endpoints in sctp_diag

SCTP_DIAG endpoint dumping was traversing endpoint address lists without
holding lock_sock(), while those lists could change concurrently via
socket operations (e.g., bindx changes). This creates a race where
nla_reserve() counts addresses under RCU protection, but the subsequent
copy may see fewer entries, potentially leaking uninitialized memory to
userspace.

Fix this by:

- Taking a reference on each endpoint during hash traversal
- Moving socket operations (lock_sock()) outside read_lock_bh()
- Serializing address list access during dump
- Reworking sctp_for_each_endpoint() to support restart-based traversal
  with (net, pos) tracking

Also:

- Add WARN_ON_ONCE() for inconsistent address counts
- Fix idiag_states filtering for LISTEN vs association cases
- Skip dumping endpoints being freed (ep->base.dead)
- Move dump position tracking into iterator, removing cb->args[4] and
  its comment for sctp_ep_dump().,
- Update the comment for cb->args[4] and remove the comment for unused
  cb->args[5] for sctp_sock_dump().

Note: traversal is restart-based and may re-scan buckets multiple times,
but this is acceptable due to small bucket sizes and required to support
sleeping-safe callbacks.

net: ipv4: bound TCP reordering sysctl writes and MTU probe sizes

Reject invalid `net.ipv4.tcp_reordering` values before they reach TCP
socket state. The sysctl is stored as an `int` but copied into the
`u32` `tp->reordering` field for new sockets, so negative writes wrap
to large values.

With `tcp_mtu_probing=2`, the wrapped value can overflow the
`tcp_mtu_probe()` size calculation and drive the MTU probing path into
an out-of-bounds read. Route `tcp_reordering` writes through
`proc_dointvec_minmax()` and require it to be at least 1. Also require
`tcp_max_reordering` to be at least 1 so the configured maximum cannot
become negative either.

When registering the table for a non-init network namespace, relocate
`extra2` pointers that refer into `init_net.ipv4` so the
`tcp_reordering` upper bound follows that namespace's
`tcp_max_reordering`.

Harden `tcp_mtu_probe()` itself by computing `size_needed` as `u64`.
This keeps the send queue and window checks from being bypassed through
signed integer overflow.

(for example ipgre_netlink_parms() sets t->collect_md). The check is
skipped when the link netns is dev_net(dev), where the rtnl path already
checked the cap.

The check goes through a new helper, rtnl_dev_link_net_capable(), added
in patch 1 next to rtnl_get_net_ns_capable() in net/core/rtnetlink.c.

Tested on net/main. For every tunnel type in the series a migrated
fake-root changelink is rejected with EPERM. For vti6 SIOCGETTUNNEL
confirms the link netns hash is left unchanged. Legit non-migrated
changelinks still succeed.

Add rtnl_dev_link_net_capable() next to rtnl_get_net_ns_capable() in

Merge tag 'net-next-7.2' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net-next

Pull networking updates from Jakub Kicinski:
 "Core & protocols:

   - Work on removing rtnl_lock protection throughout the stack
     continues. In this chapter:
       - don't use rtnl_lock for IPv6 multicast routing configuration
       - don't take rtnl_lock in ethtool for modern drivers
       - prepare Qdisc dump callbacks for rtnl_lock removal

   - Support dumping just ifindex + name of all interfaces, under RCU.
It's a common operation for Netlink CLI tools (when translating
names to ifindexes) and previously required full rtnl_lock.

   - Support dumping qdiscs and page pools for a specific netdev. Even
tho user space wants a dump of all netdevs, most of the time, the
OOO programming model results in repeating the dump for each
netdev. Which, in absence of a cache, leads to a O(n^2) behavior.

   - Flush nexthops once on multi-nexthop removal (e.g. when device goes
     down), another O(n^2) -> O(n) improvement.

   - Rehash locally generated traffic to a different nexthop on
     retransmit timeout.

   - Honor oif when choosing nexthop for locally generated IPv6 traffic.

   - Convert TCP Auth Option to crypto library, and drop non-RFC algos.

   - Increase subflow limits in MPTCP to 64 and endpoint limit to 256.

   - Support MPTCP signaling of IPv6 address + port (ADD_ADDR). We need
to selectively skip reporting of the standard TCP Timestamp option,
because they won't fit into the header space together (12 + 30 >
     40).

   - Support using bridge neighbor suppression, Duplicate Address
Detection, Gratuitous ARP and unsolicited NA forwarding - in EVPN
     deployments, e.g. VXLAN fabrics (IPv4 and IPv6).

   - Improve link state reporting for upper netdevs (e.g. macvlan) over
tunnel devices (again, mostly for EVPN deployments).

   - Support binding GENEVE tunnels to a local address.

   - Speed up UDP tunnel destruction (remove one synchronize_rcu()).

   - Support exponential field encoding in multicast (IGMPv3 and MLDv2).

   - Support attaching PSP crypto offload to containers (veth, netkit).

   - Add a new IPSec Netlink message XFRM_MSG_MIGRATE_STATE that allows
migrating individual IPsec SAs independently of their policies.

The existing XFRM_MSG_MIGRATE is tightly coupled to policy+SA
migration, lacks SPI for unique SA identification, and cannot
express reqid changes or migrate Transport mode selectors.

The new interface identifies the SA via SPI and mark, supports
reqid changes, address family changes, encap removal, and uses an
atomic create+install flow under x->lock to prevent SN/IV reuse
     during AEAD SA migration.

   - Implement GRO/GSO support for PPPoE.

   - Convert sockopt callbacks in a number of protocols to iov_iter.

  Cross-tree stuff:

   - Remove support for Crypto TFM cloning (unblocked after the TCP Auth
Option rework). This feature regressed performance for all crypto
API users, since it changed crypto transformation objects into
     reference-counted objects.

   - Add FCrypt-PCBC implementation to rxrpc and remove it from the
global crypto API as obsolete and insecure.

  Wireless:

   - Major rework of station bandwidth handling, fixing issues with
     lower capability than AP.

   - Cleanups for EMLSR spec issues (drafts differed).

   - More Neighbor Awareness Networking (Wi-Fi Aware) work (multicast,
     schedule improvements, multi-station etc.)

   - Some Ultra High Reliability (UHR) / IEEE 802.11bn (D1.4) work
(e.g. non-primary channel access, UHR DBE support).

   - Fine Timing Measurement ranging (i.e. distance measurement) APIs.

  Netfilter:

   - Use per-rule hash initval in nf_conncount. This avoids unnecessary
lock contention with short keys (e.g. conntrack zones) in different
     namespaces.

   - Various safety improvements, both in packet parsing and object
lifetimes. Notably add refcounts to conntrack timeout policy.

  Deletions:

   - Remove TLS + sockmap integration. TLS wants to pin user pages to
avoid a copy, and sockmap wants to write to the input stream. More
work on this integration is clearly needed, and we can't find any
users (original author admitted that they never deployed it).

   - Remove support for TLS offload with TCP Offload Engine (the far
more common opportunistic offload is retained). The locking looks
unfixable (driver sleeps under TCP spin locks) and people from the
vendor that added this are AWOL.

   - Remove more ATM code, trying to leave behind only what PPPoATM
needs, AAL5 and br2684 with permanent circuits.

   - Remove AppleTalk. Let it join hamradio in our out of tree protocol
     graveyard, I mean, repository.

   - Disable 32-bit x_tables compatibility (32bit binaries on 64bit
kernel) interface in user namespaces. To be deleted completely,
     soon.

   - Remove 5/10 MHz support from cfg80211/mac80211.

  Drivers:

   - Software:
       - Support DEVMEM/DMABUF Tx over NETMEM_TX_NO_DMA devices (netkit)
       - bonding: add knob to strictly follow 802.3ad for link state

   - New drivers:
       - Alibaba Elastic Ethernet Adaptor (cloud vNIC).
       - NXP NETC switch within i.MX94.

   - DPLL:
       - Add operational state to pins (implement in zl3073x).
       - Add generic DPLL type, for daisy-chaining DPLLs (implement in ice).

             configuration

           - add a pool / frag allocator for DMA mapped buffers for
control objects, save memory on systems with 64kB page size
           - take advantage of the ability to dynamically change RSS
table size, even when table is configured by the user
           - increase the max RSS table size for even traffic

ipv4: fib_rule: Move fib4_rules_exit() to ->exit().

   ip netns del ns1
  done

The cited commit moved fib4_rules_exit() earlier to ->exit_rtnl(),
but the kernel socket destroyed in ->exit() could eventually reach
__fib_lookup().

I left fib4_rules_exit() in ->exit_rtnl() because fib4_rule_delete()
calls fib_unmerge(), which requires RTNL.

However, when ->delete() is called, ->configure() has already been
called, thus fib_unmerge() in ->delete() has no effect.

Let's remove fib_unmerge() in fib4_rule_delete() and move
fib4_rules_exit() to ->exit().

Many thanks to Ido Schimmel for providing the nice repro very quickly.

Note that we can make fib_rules_ops.delete() return void once
net-next opens.

3 months agonet: serialize netif_running() check in enqueue_to_backlog()
Eric Dumazet [Tue, 16 Jun 2026 14:13:17 +0000 (14:13 +0000)]
net: serialize netif_running() check in enqueue_to_backlog()

Syzbot reported a KASAN slab-use-after-free in fib_rules_lookup().

The root cause is a race condition where packets can escape the backlog
flushing during device unregistration (e.g., during netns exit).

Commit e9e4dd3267d0 ("net: do not process device backlog during unregistration")
introduced a lockless netif_running() check in enqueue_to_backlog() to
prevent queuing packets to an unregistering device.

However, this creates a TOCTOU race window.

A lockless transmitter (like veth_xmit) can pass
the check before dev_close() clears IFF_UP. If the transmitter is then
delayed, flush_all_backlogs() can run and finish before the transmitter
grabs the backlog lock and queues the packet. The packet then escapes
the flush and triggers UAF later when processed.

Fix this by moving the netif_running() check inside the backlog lock.
This serializes the check with the flush work (which also grabs the lock).
We then either queue the packet before the flush runs (so it gets flushed),
or check netif_running() after the flush/close completes (so it gets dropped).

Yiming Qian [Wed, 10 Jun 2026 06:21:36 +0000 (06:21 +0000)]
net: skmsg: preserve sg.copy across SG transforms

The sk_msg sg.copy bitmap is part of the scatterlist entry ownership
state. A set bit tells sk_msg_compute_data_pointers() not to expose the
entry through writable BPF ctx->data. This protects entries backed by
pages that are not private to the sk_msg, such as splice-backed file
page-cache pages.

Several sk_msg transform paths move, copy, split, or compact
msg->sg.data[] entries without moving the matching sg.copy bit. This can
make an externally backed entry arrive at a new slot with a clear copy
bit. A later SK_MSG verdict can then expose sg_virt(sge) as writable
ctx->data and BPF stores can modify the original page cache.

Keep sg.copy synchronized with sg.data[] whenever entries are
transferred, shifted, split, or copied into a new sk_msg. Clear the bit
when an entry is replaced by a newly allocated private page or freed.
This covers the BPF pull/push/pop helpers, sk_msg_shift_left/right(),
sk_msg_xfer(), and tls_split_open_record(), including the partial tail
entry created during TLS open-record splitting.

appletalk: stop storing per-interface state in struct net_device

AppleTalk keeps its per-interface control block (struct atalk_iface)
directly in struct netdevice (dev->atalk_ptr). This is the only thing
tying the protocol into the core net_device layout and is the sole
blocker to moving AppleTalk out of tree.

Replace dev->atalk_ptr with a small ifindex-keyed hashtable internal
to ddp.c. The existing atalk_interfaces list stays the owner of the iface
objects; the hashtable is purely a fast dev->iface index and reuses
the same atalk_interfaces_lock.

AFAICT this patch does not make this code any more racy than it already
is, I'm sure Sashiko will point out some basically existing bugs.
AFAICT atalk_interfaces_lock is the innermost lock already.

The changes on the Tx side are deeper since that's where most

reject this config. Adding a TLS socket to a sockmap was already
rejected by sk_psock_init() through the inet_csk_has_ulp() check.
We need to reject the attempts to configure the TLS keys (rather
than adding the ULP itself) because checking prior to the ULP
installation is tricky without risking a race with sockmap getting
added in parallel (sockmap does not hold the socket lock).

This patch is a minimal rejection of the feature. Subsequent patch
in the series will do a light dead code removal. Full cleanup would
require a major rewrite of the Tx path, we don't need skmsg any more.

====================
atm: remove more dead code

Commit 6deb53595092 ("net: remove unused ATM protocols and legacy
ATM device drivers") removed a good chunk of old ATM drivers.
Our goal going forward is to limit the ATM support to PPPoATM
used in ADSL deployments.

A recent burst of AI generated fixes for net/atm/signaling.c and
net/atm/svc.c made me look closer at the remaining code. PPPoATM runs
over permanent virtual circuits (PF_ATMPVC) with a statically
configured VPI/VCI. We can drop switched virtual circuits (SVCs)
and user-space signaling (atmsigd) support. While digging around
I noticed a few more obviously dead pieces of code.

Annoyingly, I have applied one "fix" to QoS config which will
now make net conflict with this series :/

atm: remove SVC socket support and the signaling daemon interface

ATM switched virtual circuits (SVCs) are set up and torn down by a
user-space signaling daemon (atmsigd) which the kernel talks to over
a dedicated "sigd" socket: the kernel marshals Q.2931-style requests
(as_connect, as_listen, as_accept, as_close, ...) to the daemon and
applies the results to PF_ATMSVC sockets. This is the machinery behind
classical SVC use and was the foundation for LANE / MPOA, all of which
have been removed.

DSL deployments do not use any of this. PPPoATM and BR2684 run over
permanent virtual circuits (PF_ATMPVC) with a statically configured
VPI/VCI; no atmsigd, no Q.2931. Neither remaining ATM driver
(solos-pci, the USB DSL modems) is reachable through the SVC path.

Remove the SVC socket family and the signaling interface:

 - delete net/atm/svc.c, net/atm/signaling.c and signaling.h
 - drop atmsvc_init()/atmsvc_exit() and the PF_ATMSVC registration and
   module alias
 - drop the ATMSIGD_CTRL ioctl (sigd_attach) and the /proc/net/atm/svc
   file
 - fold the SVC branch out of atm_change_qos(); all sockets are PVCs now

The obsolete ATM_SETSC ioctl stub is left in place (it already just
warns and returns 0), as is the struct atm_vcc SVC bookkeeping shared
with the queueing layer.

atm: remove the local ATM (NSAP) address registry

net/atm/addr.c maintained the per-device lists of local NSAP addresses
(dev->local) and ILMI-learned LECS addresses (dev->lecs). These exist
solely to serve SVC signaling: the lists are populated through the
ATM_{ADD,DEL,RST}ADDR / ATM_{ADD,DEL,GET}LECSADDR ioctls used by the
atmsigd / ILMI daemons, and consumed when registering addresses with the
signaling daemon. The LECS list belonged to LAN Emulation, which has
been removed.

With no SVC users in a DSL-only configuration these lists are always
empty, so drop the registry entirely:

 - remove the ADDR/LECSADDR/RSTADDR ioctls
 - drop the now-always-empty "atmaddress" sysfs attribute
 - remove the dev->local / dev->lecs lists, structs and enums

The device ESI ("MAC" address) and its ATM_{G,S}ETESI ioctls and
"address" sysfs attribute are retained - the USB DSL modems populate
the ESI.

Fix a bug where an interval exists after receiving a signal in which
the main instance is stopped but the record instance is not, leading
to discrepancies in reported results and sometimes rtla hanging.

threshold even if the continue action was triggered just once, and
add tests verifying that the flag is reset properly.

 - Migrate command line interface to libsubcmd

Replace rtla's argument parsing using getopt_long() with libsubcmd,
used by perf and objtool, to reuse existing code and auto-generate
better help messages. Extensive unit tests are included to detect

Merge tag 'for-7.2/io_uring-20260615' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/axboe/linux

Pull io_uring updates from Jens Axboe:

 - Rework the task_work infrastructure.

Both the local (DEFER_TASKRUN) and the normal (tctx) task_work lists
were llist based, which is LIFO ordered, and hence each run had to do
an O(n) list reversal pass first to restore queue order.
Additionally, to cap the amount of task_work run, each method needed
   a retry list as well.

Add a lockless MPCS FIFO queue (based on Dmitry Vyukov's intrusive
MPSC algorithm) and switch both task_work lists to it. It performs
better than llists and we can then also ditch the retry lists as well
   as entries are popped one-at-the-time.

On top of those changes, run the tctx fallback task_work directly and
remove the now-unused per-ctx fallback machinery entirely.

 - zcrx user notifications.

Add a mechanism for zcrx to communicate conditions back to userspace
via a dedicated CQE, with the initial users being notification on
running out of buffers and on a frag copy fallback, plus
   shared-memory notification statistics.

Alongside that, a series of zcrx reliability and cleanup fixes: more
reliable scrubbing, poisoning pointers on unregistration, dropping an
extra ifq close, adding a ctx back-pointer, reordering fd allocation
in the export path, and killing a dead 'sock' member.

 - Allow using io_uring registered buffers for plain SEND and RECV, not
just for the zero-copy send path.

This enables targets like ublk's NBD backend to push/pull IO data
   directly to/from a registered buffer over a plain send/recv on a TCP
   socket.

 - Registered buffer improvements: account huge pages correctly, bump
the io_mapped_ubuf length field to size_t, and raise the previous 1GB
   registered buffer size limit.

 - Restrict the ctx access exposed to io_uring BPF struct_ops programs
by handing them an opaque type rather than the full io_ring_ctx, and
add a separate MAINTAINERS entry for the bpf-ops code.

 - Allow opcode filtering on IORING_OP_CONNECT.

 - Validate ring-provided buffer addresses with access_ok(), and align
the legacy buffer add limit with MAX_BIDS_PER_BGID.

 - Various other cleanups and minor fixes, including avoiding msghdr
async data on connect/bind, dropping async_size for OP_LISTEN, making
the POLL_FIRST receive side checks consistent, re-checking
IO_WQ_BIT_EXIT for each linked work item, and using
trace_call__##name() at guarded tracepoint call sites.

  fixes of xfstests failures.

   - fix a null-ptr-deref issue reported by syzbot (Edward Adam Davis)

If the attributes file is not loaded during system mount

Also, add a b-tree node size check in hfs_btree_open() with the
goal to prevent an uninit-value bug reported by syzbot for the case
     of corrupted HFS+ image.

   - fix __hfs_bnode_create() by using kzalloc_flex() instead of
     kzalloc() (Rosen Penev)

   - fix early return in hfs_bnode_read() (Tristan Madani)

hfs_bnode_read() can return early without writing to the output

Pull nilfs2 updates from Viacheslav Dubeyko:
"Fixes of syzbot reported issue and various small fixes in NILFS2
  functionality.

   - fix hung task in nilfs_transaction_begin() (Deepanshu Kartikey)

Reported by syzbot. The root cause is that user-supplied segment
numbers were not validated before nilfs_clean_segments() began
doing work; the range check on each segnum was performed deep
inside the call chain by nilfs_sufile_updatev(), which emits a
nilfs_warn() per invalid entry while still holding the segctor lock
     and the sufile mi_sem.

Fix it by validating the contents of kbufs[4] in
     nilfs_clean_segments() immediately after acquiring ns_segctor_sem
     via nilfs_transaction_lock().

   - fix a smatch warning in nilfs_mkdir() warn (Hongling Zeng)

This corrects a semantic issue related to the use of the
ERR_PTR macro that arose from a recent VFS change.

   - fix a backing_dev_info reference leak (Shuangpeng Bai)

setup_bdev_super() initializes sb->s_bdev and takes a reference on
the block device backing_dev_info when assigning sb->s_bdi.

nilfs_fill_super() takes another reference to the same
backing_dev_info and stores it in sb->s_bdi again. The extra
reference is not paired with a matching bdi_put(), since
     generic_shutdown_super() releases sb->s_bdi only once.

Drop the redundant bdi_get() in nilfs_fill_super(). The single
reference taken by setup_bdev_super() is enough and is released
     during superblock shutdown"

Merge tag 'for-7.2-tag' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/kdave/linux

Pull btrfs updates from David Sterba:
"The most noticeable change is to enable large folios by default, it's
been in testing for a few releases. Related to that is huge folio
support (still under experimental config). Otherwise a few ioctl
updates, performance improvements and usual fixes and core changes.

  User visible changes:

   - enable large folios by default, added in 6.17 (under experimental
build), no feature limitations, a big change internally

   - new ioctl to return raw checksums to userspace (a bit tricky given
compression and tail extents), can be used for mkfs and
     deduplication optimizations

   - provide stable UUID for e.g. overlayfs and temp_fsid, also
reflected in statvfs() field f_fsid, internal dev_t is hashed in to
     allow cloning

   - add 32bit compat version of GET_SUBVOL_INFO ioctl

   - in experimental build, support huge folios (up to 2M)

  Performance related improvements/changes:

   - limit bio size to the estimated optimum derived from the queue,
this prevents build up of too much data for writeback, which could
cause latency spikes (reported improvement 15% on sequential
     writes)

   - don't force direct IO to be serialized, forgotten change during
mount API port, brings back +60% of throughput

   - lockless calculation of number of shrinkable extent maps, improve
performance with many memcg allocated objects

  Notable fixes:

   - in zoned mode, fix a deadlock due to zone reclaim and relocation
when space needs to be flushed

   - don't trim device which is internally not tracked as writeable
(e.g. when missing device is being rescanned)

   - fix deadlock when cloning inline extent and mounted with
